Arista EOS Licensing
EOS feature sets are licensed perpetually via License Groups — coarse tiers tied to platform capability. The subscription layer (automation, telemetry, AI Job Observability) is sold separately as CloudVision-as-a-Service.
Perpetual licenses, tiered by platform
Traditional EOS feature sets — Enhanced L3, Virtualization, FlexRoute, and the rest of the technical feature library — are procured under a perpetual license at a fixed price. The license belongs to the switch and stays with it. The advanced automation, real-time telemetry, and observability features that historically came as add-ons now live in CloudVision-as-a-Service on a monthly subscription term — that's where the recurring revenue model sits.
Group 0 through Group 5
Tier maps to port speed and capability. Entry-level 1G/mG access is Group 0/1; high-density 400G/800G spine sits at Group 4/5.

Tiered by chassis slot capacity
Modular chassis use a separate license-group taxonomy — LIC-MOD-1 for 4-slot, LIC-MOD-2 for 8-slot, LIC-MOD-3 for 12-slot, and LIC-MOD-4 for 16-slot. There's also LIC-MOD-G specifically for modular 1G/mG PoE switches.
